It’s about time someone realized that it’s all well and good for a tie to look quite wonderful displayed on an oak table in a menswear boutique but considerably better when it looks terrific around one’s neck. We met some Italians who have this figured out. One square yard of silk is folded seven times — carefully and patiently, of course, since the craftspeople of Italy are not inclined to rush about — to create neckwear with beautiful drape and weight that will stand up to countless Windsor or Four-In-Hand knots. The sevenfold method was nearly lost during the depression when it gave way to the method of lining ties with a much cheaper tipping fabric. These ties have a certain life that you won’t find in cravats produced in the more typical fashion. We’re making only 48 of each design, each hand numbered. Made in Italy. Available in Blue Sailboats, Yellow Hunt and Red Planes.
Originally $178.
